What's new

v0.9.1 2026-10-15

New

  • Switch to any coding agent from the keyboard: ⌃⌘A (Ctrl+Shift+A on Windows and Linux) opens a list of every agent session, most urgent first, where a digit or Enter takes you there and typing filters the list. ⌃⌘J (Ctrl+Shift+J) jumps straight to the agent that needs you or has finished.

v0.9.0 2026-10-14

New

  • A new Settings section, Agents, installs status hooks for Claude Code, pi, opencode and Cursor and turns on Codex notifications, so the status bar shows exactly when an agent is working, needs you or is done. Install and Remove touch only trminl's own entries in each agent's config.
  • The status bar now shows a mark for each coding agent running in your panes (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, pi, opencode and others) on macOS, Linux and Windows, colored by whether it is working, finished, or waiting for you. Click one to list that agent's sessions and jump to its tab and pane. It can also track an agent behind ssh when the agent reports its own status.
  • Closing the focused pane now focuses the pane opened just before it, so closing panes walks back through them. Settings, Terminal, "After closing a pane, focus" brings back the old behaviour (the first pane).
  • The workspace now has a status bar at the bottom. Messages show inside it instead of in a line that pushed the terminal up, so the terminal no longer flickers or goes black when one appears. A visual bell pulses the bell icon, and the sliders button opens Tweaks to change the terminal theme, font and bell right away.

Fixed

  • On Windows, Git Bash, MSYS2 and Cygwin tabs opened right after boot (or while antivirus is scanning) now get shell integration, so the pane header shows the folder and a failed command's ✗ mark. Before, they could start without it.

v0.8.1 2026-10-12

Fixed

  • Shells opened from the Linux AppImage now start from your own PATH and data directories, with no trace of the AppImage's temporary mount.
  • Shells opened from the Linux AppImage no longer inherit its bundled-library settings, so tools like grep, flatpak and python3 work there as they do in any other terminal.
  • Dropdowns now draw the app's own field and ▾ on every platform, which makes them readable on Linux, where they showed light text on a white box. The AppImage no longer paints faint horizontal stripes across the terminal background. The trminl command it installs now points at the AppImage file, so it keeps working after the app quits; if you installed it from 0.8.0's AppImage, Settings → General offers the install again.

v0.8.0 2026-10-11

Breaking

  • macOS shortcuts now follow the iTerm2 3.6.11 defaults: the command palette is now ⌘⇧O and ⌘K clears the buffer. Every shortcut can be rebound in Settings → Keybindings.

New

  • After an update, a What's new dialog shows what changed in the version you are running. You can reopen it from the command palette (what's new) or from the version label in Settings.
  • trminl now updates itself: in Settings > General choose whether it asks first, installs when you quit, or relaunches for you. Linux users who want updates should use the new AppImage download; deb and rpm installs are only told that a new version exists. Install this version by hand; updates work from the next one.
  • Drag a tab onto a pane to split that pane and move the tab's panes in, with their sessions still running.

Changed

  • Settings is smaller and better organized: terminal behavior now has its own Terminal section, and Advanced is now Logs. Profiles are easier to find and edit, with a filter, one-line rows and only the fields each kind needs. Profile and theme edits are no longer saved field by field: use Save (⌘S, or Ctrl+S on Windows and Linux) or Revert, and Settings asks before you leave unsaved changes.
